Easy Summer Travel Tips

Summer vacations are on people’s minds. Schools have finished for the year and graduation parties have been held. Now, it’s time to dust off the suitcase in the closet and buy a new bathing suit. There’s all types of trips you can take from staycations to weekend getaways and road trips. But, if you’re focusing on the week-long family type of vacation, here’s a few helpful ideas to save and enjoy exploring even more.

Consider the All-Inclusive Option

If you’ve never considered booking an all-inclusive vacation because you assumed they were too expensive, think again. These vacations, which include things like your food and drink, are quite affordable at many resorts. And, if you’re traveling with children, many all-inclusive packages offer kids to come along for free. Under age four is customarily free and some resorts allow kids up to the age of twelve in free, or, at least half price. Since food and drinks is shown to be the biggest expense for travelers, having them included will prove to be a huge budget saver. And, with your Travel Set Go membership you’ve already started your trip off right by saving a bundle when you booked your accommodations.

Some all-inclusive vacations also offer transportation as part of the deal. This feature comes in handy when you’re staying at island beach resorts which are often a good distance from the airport or town center. Car rentals in most larger cities rent for an average of $200-$300 per day just for a compact car.

Free Upgrades

You’d be surprised at the upgrades you can get if you just ask. For example, when you are flying, inquire about available upgrades at the gate if you’re perchance celebrating a special event like an anniversary or milestone birthday. Many airlines are happy to upgrade you if they have availability in first class as a professional courtesy, and you merely have to ask.

Special occasion upgrades are sometimes available at restaurants and hotels and include items like a bottle of champagne, a bouquet of flowers, or free drinks. And, you can ask the venue you’re visiting if there’s anything they might do to help you celebrate the special occasion or surprise a family member and make their birthday even better. In most instances, you’ll get an upgrade by simply asking.
