After months of planning, it’s finally time for your trip. All that’s left to do is pack and be on your way! While packing, there are a few items that you can probably do without. Here are our tips to traveling light and making the most of your trip!
Shoes
Depending on your plans, chances are that you will only need a single pair of shoes. If you have evening plans that require something dressier, opt for an outfit that is suitable for the shoes you’ll wear during the day. Shoes can take up a third to half of most easy-to-carry bags.
Toiletries
Always be on the lookout for the often-free samples of toiletries. Stock up if possible. Otherwise, buy the travel size or sachets of everything else. Another option is to buy small plastic bottles and pour into those. Toiletries should take up a negligible amount of space.
Clothing
If you have a favorite jacket that must make the trip with you, wear it while traveling or tie it around your waste. That goes for anything else that might be unreasonably bulky. Hopefully you are traveling for the experience and impressing somebody along the way is further down the priority list.
If you are trying to impress, they’ll likely focus on your top rather than your bottom. So make your favorite pair of jeans work for you by wearing them more than once on your trip.
Electronics
If you’re like us, you’re trying to justify taking your laptop, tablet and phone. Don’t do it. Even if you blog, force yourself to use your phone. Leave the laptop at home and think twice before taking your tablet. We do recommend investing in a power bank for emergencies. You should be spending very little time on social media so outside of perhaps listening to music, what’s the need for anything else?
Enjoy Your Trip!
Spending an extended amount of time at an airport with more than one bag or an over-sized bag can be a nightmare. You can save by taking advantage of TravelSetGo’s VIP Membership, save even more by skipping the checked bags altogether as there is often an associated fee. The lighter you pack, the more options you have for accommodations. The last thing you want is to be limited by your bag!
